For Jonathan, he logged many of his career records: first home run, first catch as catcher, first team win and first championship.

There were a total of six teams in the tournament. Chargers played two games on day 1 (Saturday) and one more Sunday morning at 10AM.

After those three rounds, the top two teams with 2:1 record competed again for championship.

The White House Commission on Presidential Scholars, appointed by President Obama, selects honored scholars annually based on their academic success, artistic excellence, essays, school evaluations and transcripts, as well as evidence of community service, leadership, and demonstrated commitment to high ideals. Of the three million students expected to graduate from high school this year, more than 3,300 candidates qualified for the 2013 awards determined by outstanding performance on the College Board SAT and ACT exams, and through nominations made by Chief State School Officers or the National YoungArts Foundation’s nationwide YoungArts™ competition.

The 2013 U.S. Presidential Scholars are comprised of one young man and one young woman from each state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, and from U.S. families living abroad, as well as 15 chosen at-large and 20 U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts.

The Presidential Scholars Program is a recognition program. Students chosen as U.S. Presidential Scholars receive an expense-paid trip to Washington, D. C. in June and the U.S. Presidential Scholars medallion at a ceremony sponsored by the White House, in commemoration of their achievements. During their visit to Washington, Scholars have access to important national and international figures, including government officials, educators, authors, musicians, scientists and other accomplished people. Scholars are provided opportunities to: wrestle with issues that concern America and the world; participate in volunteer activities such as community service, to benefit those in need and make a difference in our Nation’s Capital; attend recitals, receptions and ceremonies held in their honor; and visit area museums and monuments. But perhaps the greatest benefit to the Scholars, and the one they most often remark on, is the chance to exchange ideas with similarly motivated and accomplished peers, and to forge friendships that last a lifetime.

The award is for the children of IBM retirees and employees only, carrying an award ranges from $2000 to $8000 per year depending on the cost of attendance at chose college and any other scholarship awards received. We should find out about the award mount by an e-mail later.

During the lunch afterwards, Jonathan told mom that “I feel light in my heart” after the baptism.

GraceGarden fellowship prepares a beautiful “For Your Baptism” card for Jonathan. On the cover, a dove descends from the sky withe the message below.

“Jesus said …”Baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to do everything I have told you” (Matthew 28:18-20).

The card was signed by over a dozen fellowship brothers and sisters. Before midnight after Jonathan went to sleep, we took the card and wrote the following:

Dear Jonathan,
We are so proud of you!!
And we love you!!!

After ranking number two overall in the regular season, Jonathan entered the playoff rounds last night with 7 other players in the 2012-13 Gateway Masters Boys 10 Under (B10) tournament.

In the quarter-final round last night, Jonathan beat Simon Way by 3-4, 4-0 (7-5) to enter the semi-final round today.

In the semi-final round this afternoon, Jonathan played against a tough player who he has never won before. In a tight back and forth game, Jonathan edged out (4-2, 4-3) Jasper Bennett.

In the final round against Brian Kim, Jonathan lost 4-1, 4-1 to take home the second place trophy.
